LA BODEGA'S AERO PORT COMMEMORATES 100 YEARS OF FLIGHT

It's The First Wine Cellared At The World's Only Airport Winery

DFW AIRPORT, TEXAS (Nov. 26, 2003) - La Bodega, the world's only winery located within an airport, today introduces, Aero Port, a special commemorative, limited-edition port wine paying tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Wright brothers' first flight.

"We all know the Wright brothers first flew at Kitty Hawk, so we've obviously taken some historical liberties with the label that depicts the famed Wright brothers' aircraft flying above a Texas vineyard," said Gina Puente-Brancato, La Bodega's president and owner, "but without their bravery and ingenuity there might never have even been an aviation industry, a D/FW International Airport and La Bodega Winery. We decided the introduction of Aero Port, made from 100 percent Texas-grown grapes, was a unique way to call attention to our D/FW International Airport winery and the growing Texas wine industry."

Puente-Brancato notes this is the first time one of La Bodega's wines has actually been cellared and aged in oak barrels for a short time at its bonded winery located at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport's Terminal A, Gate A-15. That airport-cellared Aero Port will be blended with a larger off-site production to make the final limited-edition wine. The off-site production process has been going on for some time - aging of the wine lasts approximately 24 months. Aero Port's official vintage is 2000.

"Aero Port is a terrific way to toast the pioneering spirit of the fathers of aviation and, of course, the anniversary just happens to fall during the holidays," said Puente-Brancato. "It's the perfect time, and perfect wine, to enjoy after dinner with dessert or perhaps indulge in as dessert all by itself."

The history of port wine can be traced to Portugal in the 17th century. The wine gets its name from the city of Oporto. Port is what is known as a "fortified" wine, typically with a higher alcohol content (17 to 21 percent) than many other wines. Aero Port's alcohol content is 19 percent.
The special limited edition Aero Port with the 100 Years of Flight label is available at La Bodega winery for $49.99 per bottle. Orders may be placed in person at the winery or by calling
972-574-1440.

La Bodega opened in 1995 and is owned and operated by Gina Puente-Brancato and her husband, John Brancato. The winery sells its own La Bodega wines, as well as many more brands from other Texas wineries.
