The allure of Argentina's tropical rain forests and
giant waterfalls, the thrill of colorful Buenos Aires,
and the chill of Patagonian mountains, glaciers and
whale-filled waters are the focus of a new tourism campaign
targeting U.S. travelers.
The Federal Investments Council in Buenos Aires has
teamed with North Texas-based U.S.-Argentina Chamber
of Commerce, InterStar Marketing & Public Relations
and D-FW Tours to create a first-of-its-kind partnership
to promote tourism to Argentina via American Airlines.
"Argentina is a beautiful country with many amazing
cities, beautiful people and breathtaking sites,"
said Alberto Iannariello, president of the U.S.-Argentina
Chamber of Commerce. "U.S. tourists have yet to
discover this wonderful destination, but European travelers
have flocked to Argentina for decades."
At the invitation of CFI and its leader Ing. Juan José
Cirácera executives from the Dallas-Fort Worth
companies toured Argentina for 12 days during the summer.
The group met with tour operators, hoteliers, restaurateurs,
government officials and Argentine citizens, also presenting
a series of marketing briefings in Buenos Aires and
half a dozen Argentine provinces.
The tour concluded with the signing of an agreement
between CFI, the Chamber, InterStar and D-FW Tours to
promote tourism to Argentina in cooperation with the
Fort Worth based airline.
D-FW Tours, a Dallas-based wholesaler, is marketing
travel packages to U.S. travel agents. PR-marketing
firm InterStar is developing an extensive public relations
program that will launch later this fall. American Airlines
hopes to boost tourism traffic to the Latin American
country.
"This is an important program for Argentina, and
for many Texas businesses," Iannariello said. "Our
goal is to acquaint tourists and travel agents in U.S.
markets with the exciting opportunities of Argentina,
and the great value it now offers. The recent economic
downturn in the country has made Argentina an attractive
and affordable destination for individuals and families."
CFI is an economic development organization that works
for the governors of Argentina's 23 provinces and leadership
of the autonomous city of Buenos Aires, coordinating
beneficial projects. A top priority of CFI is helping
Argentina develop the infrastructure and "know
how" to build its tourism industry.
