| FORT WORTH, Texas (Oct. 3, 2003)
Doug Renfro, president of specialty food manufacturer
Renfro Foods, has been appointed vice president of the
new food trade group, the International Zesty Food Association
(IZFA) and the Texas Food Processors Association (TFPA).
IZFA was established during the International Zesty Food
Show, held in Fort Worth, Sept. 26-28. Renfro was on the
temporary organizing committee to bring recommendations
to the table for the formation of the Association.
"I'm delighted to be in the position to help shape
both organizations," said Renfro. "The zesty
food industry has grown into an international phenomenon
with more and more new products expanding the category
each year," said Renfro. "Through the efforts
of the Association, we hope to address the many components
of the zesty food industry for our trade constituents
and increase consumer awareness of the hot, spicy and
zesty
food movement, its cuisines and cultures."
The Texas Food Processors Association (TFPA) represents
companies engaged in the processing of food products
and includes companies that provide them with ingredients,
equipment, materials and services.
"As a trade association it's important for us
to provide a voice for Texas food processors in federal
and state legislation and provide members the opportunity
to network with other food processors and suppliers."
Fort Worth-based Renfro Foods manufactures a variety
of sauces and relishes, including 27 Mrs. Renfro's products
distributed through supermarkets, gourmet and gift shops
in all 50 states, Canada, the Caribbean and Iceland.
Three generations of Renfros have devoted themselves
to the family business since its founding in 1940.
